TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF APPLICATION/CONTRACT ADDENDUM

This Addendum applies to WIU students who contract for a Residence Hall room in the International House at Western Illinois University ("Residence Halls") under the terms and conditions of the current WIU Residence Hall Application/Contract. All of the provisions of the current WIU Residence Hall Application/Contract applicable to WIU students shall also apply to International House students, with the exception of the "NOTE" in Section II thereof. In the event of any inconsistency between said WIU Residence Hall Application/Contract and this Addendum, the latter will prevail. The following provisions are specifically applicable to International House students:

  1. Term: International House accommodations are for the full academic year and summer term. Students will be billed at the beginning of each semester for the entire semester amount. International House students will be required to participate in the contract renewal period each February and indicate their future living intentions. Failure to participate in this process will result in the cancellation of their room assignment for the next term.

  2. Board Plans: International House students will only be charged for the room plan based on the same current fiscal year room rates. International House students will not be required to purchase a food service plan.

  3. Room Adjustments: If a student enters the University and then withdraws of his/her own initiative or is asked to leave the International House for disciplinary reasons, the student's account will be credited a daily rate for each day the room was not occupied. Charges will be based on the date the student properly checks out of the International House with the appropriate residence hall staff member and the University Housing and Dining Services Office.

  4. Cleanliness and Sanitation: In order to reduce fire hazards, prevent insect or rodent infestation or other health concerns, and increase the longevity of the facilities; residents are expected to maintain high standards of housekeeping. Dirt, trash, or waste shall not be swept out of doors or thrown from windows or balconies. Residents shall be responsible for depositing all garbage, recyclables (plastics, glass, aluminum cans, paper) in the designated garbage and recycling receptacles provided. Residents are expected to contact their Assistant Complex Director promptly if insect or rodent activity is discovered and to cooperate with the University's prevention and/or treatment program for the elimination of pests.

  5. Summer Occupancy: International House students may reside in the International House during the summer as long as they are registered for the summer or fall terms.

  6. Single Rooms: Single rooms will not be provided to any International House residents.

  7. All International House residents will be assessed a fee equal to that of a full-time WIU student per semester for the use of the WIU Computer Labs. Assessment of this fee provides use of the Computer Labs on the WIU campus, including Internet and E-mail access and is based on current fiscal year fee structure.

  8. All International House students will be assessed per semester fees that include the Residential Network Fee, Telephone Fee (local charge) as well as other university fees. All fees are based on current fiscal year fee structure.

  9. Students living in the International House are subject to the rules and regulations of the Residence Halls and WIU, as well as federal, state, and local laws. Violations of such rules and regulations by International House students may result in sanctions up to and including removal from all Residence Halls.
